Ella upon waking up at 8:50am
“Mommy, I wanna ride the ponies.”
2 minutes later
“Mommy, I think I want to ride the train, the roller coaster and the ponies.”
Me: puzzled look, nodding ok.

First thing Ella says to me when she wakes up:
“Mommy can I have a pink carebear.”
We as adults are jolted out of bed because of money worries, the 110 degree burning my garden up so I better hurry up and water it, websites that need to be complete and launched now, ect…My sweet innocent daughter is jolted out of bed because of the need of a pink carebear. I love that!
I turned 34 on Saturday. I don’t really care about getting older but I did confess to Mark that I might freak out once I turn 36. We celebrated by going camping on Friday to Lake Berriyessa. It was 105 degrees at 5:30 when we got there and it was about 105 degrees all night long. Since it was my birthday, I made the call the next morning that we needed to pack up and leave. Im sure the hang over helped with that decision as well. Hot and hung over and no shade to be found anywhere. We even had one of those pop up shade thingys. It was soooo hot. Did I mention it was very hot!
We were home by 10am and in Dave and Heidis pool by 10:45. Ahhhhh! We continued to camp modern style. Dave fixed us all sandwiches that were to be made while camping, and after a much needed nap we grilled what we would have had camping and sipped margaritas and beers. The next morning I had the clan over for breakfast. I cooked what we would have had for our camp breakfast. I think I like this kind of camping. You know what kind of camping I don’t like? This kind. Do not go there to camp! Here are the top reasons!
1. Hot
2. Loud
3. Hot and no shade
4. People drive around the camp site all night long
5. Hot
6. Campers come in at 9pm to set up camp and play their music extremely loud.
7. Campers play their music extremely loud until after 3am
8. Campers puking their guts out for 20 minutes straight
9. Very hot
10. No shade and very hot
Now just because I turned 34 does not mean that I am anti-loud music. My new favorite album is Wolfmother for L. Ron Hubbards sake! But come on! Seriously it was so loud and disrespectful. They were playing their music as if they were at their own house.
This isn’t to say that our first night was totally a bust. Friday was a blast. We drank to many beers and took a dip in Lake Beriyessa at 8pm. We had a heated (pun intended) discussion about Scientology and Mark got me a really cool bday gift.
Cool birthday gifts!
From Heidi and Dave
My favorite in the whole world!
And from Heidi, Beck and Tom
And from Mark
There are some new camp pictures up but not many as it was to hot. Click on my flickr badge over there on the right.

So Mark is gone all weekend with his band and its the start of a few overnighters coming up this summer. So I need to keep busy with the kids. This morning we will head to the Farmers Market in Davis and meet with Molly and the kids. After that I am stumped. Any fun, easy ideas anyone? Maybe I will check out the movies. I think I will take the kids to the new Woodland Art Center opening tomorrow. We have the weekly Stew-Gast BBQ to attend Sunday evening. Any more ideas or hook ups let me know.
After I posted, the rat was not heard from again. I think its to damn hot up in the attic for them. But last night I SAW one! I opened up the garage door to throw some laundry in the hamper and I saw it. Ick. It slithered under a shelving unit. So with the massive amount of rat poison I bought last month I threw 2 rat chew block thingys under the shelving unit. And to top it off we have a little mouse under our kitchen sink. Pooping and such, so I threw a little chew block thingy under the sink. I heard the mouse batting it around last night. Hopefully he chewed enough to die! And this all had to happen while Mark is gone all weekend having a hootenany with the Bottom Dwellers in Truckee.
**I just plucked Ollies bottle out from his crib. He woke up soooo early this morning so I gave him his bottle in hopes he would fall asleep and he did and I just now remembered the rat rule about leaving bottles in the crib. Gah the horror!
