Last week during the Bottom Dwellers practice my husband went into the attic to crank our AC on into the garage. It was there he noticed rat poop and lots of it. I have not heard any goings on up there so I figured the rat was long gone. But lastnight as we were dozing off to sleep I heard it. I heard that nasty rat up in the attic walking around. It sounded like it was dragging all our electrical wires across the attic and back again. It sounded like it was knawing on the wires that conneced our fire alarms which are all hard wired. The rat was especially into the fire alarm wires that is in our bedroom. It woke me up about 4 times. A few times I got the painter roller that has not been used for painting in a few months and used it to knock on the ceiling. Kind of like telling our upstairs neighbor to be quiet. I went to a couple of sites to see how to get rid of them and screw the humane way. They should not exist. Here are a few tips from one site:
Wipe any spilled food off the clothing and faces of babies and bedridden adults - I guess I better be more diligent about this, luckily we don’t have any bedridden adults in our house yet, well maybe soon once I attack that rum filled watermelon in our fridge.
NEVER leave a bottle with a baby in the crib overnight - umm I don’t leave it overnight but just in the morning. Does that count? I can just picture the rat looking at Ollie through the AC vent waiting for him to fall asleep so he can pounce on him and his bottle.
Cut any high weeds, especially around house foundations - guilty
Store lumber at least 18 inches from the ground - guilty
Looks like we will be busy cleaning up our backyard that is a wasteland this weekend.
I have not posted much lately because everytime I read my new favorite blog dooce I feel so boring and not as clever and witty as I sometimes think I do. I think I need to write when I am all hopped up on coffee like now or keep a steady flow margaritas at my side through out the day.Oh! which reminds me I have a rum drenched watermelon in the fridge right now. The kids will love it! So I posted new pics on my flickr My brother requested that I post pictures of the new addition which I should have done months ago, but I was hoping and holding out that all the painting would be done. I just realized when taking those pictures that we have not touched the paint since December. I think I will try to get in paint mode today and perhaps whip out a wall during Ollies nap time.
This past Sunday we went to SF to get out of the heat. Ripped from the headlines or at least Sunset magazine we explored the outer richmond neighborhood. I love being in this neighborhood and I always forget that. It is more peaceful over there and a little more spread out compared to the hustle and bustle of the SF you are used to, but you still can’t find parking until you have rounded the blocks about 15 times. I tore this article out of a Sunset that Molly gave to me from about 2 years ago and thought that it looked fun. According to the article we should eat at Bills Place 2315 Clement Place for yummy hamburgers and tasty milkshakes. And they were right. It was a tiny place with no more tables inside but lucky for us they had a outdoor patio with a koi pond. I ate my 49er burger (avocado and bacon oh yeah!) and curly fries and the kids ate almost all their lunch of peanut butter and jelly on super soft white bread with yummy greasy ruffles potatoe chips. I love a kids menu that has PB&J on it! Its always a winner with us. The kids were peaches! The article also said we should try Khan Toke Thai House 5937 Geary Blvd, Ton Kiang 5821 Geary (long considered to be SFs best dimsum and Pizzetta 211 at 211 23rd Ave. I plan to try all these eventually because they do sound great. Then we were off down the road to take a little hike. It was a fantastic hike, and you can read more about that in my comments I posted on the pictures. Next time we are going to try to hike to the Legion of Honor from where we were but we were short on water and naps and it was time to cross the glorious Golden Gate over to Marin to our favorite ending spot Marin Brewing Co. Sip on a IPA and munch on their very yummy onion rings.
Monday my sister, god bless her, took the gruesome twosome for some aunty fun. Me and Mark went to Hooters Thats right Hooters, and it was all my idea. I was curious and I wanted to check it out because you know they are famous for their um wings. So Mark and I feasted on wings and drank Lagunitas IPA and it was a ok time. I wasn’t shocked or offended and I think that will probably be the last time I go there. Well never say never because they did have a good beer selection and a menu with lots of eats on it for a decent price, and it appeared to be kid friendly. I mean they sold Hooters bibs and kids t-shirts in the gift shop afterall.
