Get away!

New pictures posted on my flickr, go here

Our wood floors are all done. They put the last coat on Sunday. They get in and get out! So we can officailly walk on them Wednesday, but I am going to give them another 24 hours after that, so Thursday at 4pm we will move back in.

Our SF getaway was fabulous. Thank you so much to Heidi and Dave for taking Ella for more than 24 hours. And thanks to my mom for taking Ollie. I think those kids needed a little getaway from each other and from their mom and cramped house also. I can’t stress enough how important getaways with your husband (or wife) is. I swear it adds a few more years to the marriage, especailly if you have kids!

The Barley Wine festival was a fantastic time. Our indian lunch after that was delicious. Our nap after that was dreamy. After nappin’ we went to see Walk the Line at the Kubuki theatre. I can understand why Joaquin Phoenix is getting a oscar and maybe Reese Witherspoon, but the movie was just okay.

The next morning, we went out for coffee and bought some jam to spread on our leftover naan. Delicious!

After that we headed over to Ikea to get new chairs for our new dining table and a new desk chair. We also bought a ton of other crap that added to about $500.

Thats it in a nutshell!

The dust will never settle

So this week I called in a wood floor refinisher guy on Tuesday to get a quote. Our old floors look so nasty next to our new shiny bamboo floors I can hardly stand it. I had a budget in mind and he came in $100 under it so woo hoo. So I ask Peter the floor man how far out he is and he said he could start Friday and be done Monday. Wow! So I called Mark and he said go for it since the kids will be with grammy all day on Friday and then we will be in SF overnight on Saturday so that just leave a few days of being cramped up in our new space. Last night we did a mad dash to move everything into our new space. Can you believe we were able to fit a queen bed, a crib, a twin bed, 1 dresser in the closet, 1 dresser in the room, a very tall book shelf, a skinny tall cabinet and a big chair in our new bedroom! I will post pics once I find the cable thingy!

Puddle of tears.

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 8:44 am

I just noticed a little puddle in the middle of our living room and was very curious. Did one of the kids pee, leak through the diaper, throw their juice and it leaked. For some odd reason, I just found it odd. I don’t know what compelled me to get on my knees and really inspect it, for all I know it could have been dog piss. Our dog has been known lately to piss around the house since we hardly let her outside due to our backyard being an escape route with the fences being broken down and all. So, I touched it, smelled it, nothing. And then I tasted it, I know I know, I never do this. But I tasted it, and it was salt water. It was Ollies tears.

Good morning Ollie, and how is your day going?

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 8:26 am

As usual Ollie is throwing a huge temper tantrum. Literally overnight since Monday he has been throwing these temper tantrums that are so unlike him. They are monster tantrums. Out of nowhere they come. Kicking and screaming. He has also been walking with a little limp since Sunday. Is he in extreme pain? I don’t know. Lucky for us, he already had a scheduled doctor appointment on Tuesday. So, down to xrays he goes. This is his second go round of xrays in a year. Pour little guy. As the xray guy hands me the xrays to deliver to our doctor, he looks at me, winks and says good luck? WTF!! A wink and a good luck. Did he see something that was bad? So I broke down and starting crying. Tried to gather up the kids to go back upstairs and broke down crying again. Thanks xray guy for the wink! So we are still waiting for the results, hopefully today or tomorrow. We also decided that if these tantrums continue, which they are, we are going to do some blood tests. I will give him the weekend and then go next week for blood tests. Meanwhile, Ella is being so patient although just now she just asked me to put Ollie in his crib because he is a cry baby. Here here sister!
