Lovely weekend with the family.

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 7:21 am

It was a nice quiet perfect weather weekend with the family. Friday started with this mommy going out with the girls to a fundraiser here in our little town of Woodland for Retts Syndrome It was Octoberfest style so lots of beer tastings, german potato salad and sausages. The fundraiser was a success. Last I heard, the total was at $28,000 and that did not include the silent auction and the ticket sales. It was so nice to see our town come together and support this cause and their friends whose daughters have Retts.

Saturday was another perfect weather day but most of it was spent indoors. We went to a birthday party at Round Table for a 2 year old. I had to take Ollie home because we got to the party and he saw the balloons and it was a big cry fest. He loves them but he just can’t figure out what he wants to do with them. Tie it around his finger, his shoe his belt loop, no he just cries because, well I don’t know what his problem is with those balloons so anyway he had to go. So Ella and I went and ate lots of pizza and cake and scooby doo push ups.

Saturday evening we had Heidi and Dave over for blue cheese stuffed burgers, fries and beers. Very tasty and relaxing.

Sunday we met up with the Stewart-Gast clan and ate at IHOP then headed over to the pumpkin patch

Lots of fun and fantastic weather. But since we spent all our money on IHOP we couldn’t participate in the $8 dollar pumpkins (I can do a whole blog about how ridicioulsly expensive pumpkins are! but Im not) rootbeer floats or the admission so thanks Nigel and Molly for flowing us some money.

We got home and we sat outside and watched Ella slay dragons and then offer them baby pumpkins. Then Ella and I went for a stroll and crunched a bunch of leaves on our way. Ended the evening with a dinner of salsa verde carnitas, guacamole, beans, salsa, lots of jalapenas and the best tortillas ever. I would link the tortillas but I think they are to rural to do so. Oh and my husband would beg to differ on these being the best tortillas ever.

Home Addition Week 3

Check out the flickr for new pictures. You can actually see where the new addition is going to be, amazing! But of course the city did not pass the first phase of our inspection, grrr! So the boys are back here right now fixing what needs to be fixed then Thursday we await inspection again and hopefully Friday cement gets poured and we are off and running again! Minus the failed inspection, things are really moving fast.

Ella

Ella,

This is one of many of Ellas creations. I am going to start photographing them because they are just so darn cute. This one she calls her ornaments. It is such a wonderful display and she is so proud. Love it!

Breakin’ my heart

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 11:51 am

This morning I went to go get Ella to get dressed. She had been lounging in my bed watching the usual PBS shows. I noticed that the door was closed and locked. She should not be locking the door what so ever so I knocked loudly on the door and in a loud voice asked her to open the door now! I heard her starting to cry and she said she couldn’t. I immediately knew why she locked the door and why she started to cry. She leaked through her pull up and she was embarrassed. She has done this before and never have I yelled at her or made her feel embarrassed. I would just say that sometimes this happens and we just need to be careful. I unlocked the door with the key we keep in the coat closet and found pee drips on the floor and Ella hiding in the closet. She started crying again and didn’t want to leave. I finally got her clothes off and got her all cleaned up and dressed and said the usual speech. It made me so sad to see her that way, hiding in a closet, crying and embarrassed. She is only 3 years old. It just amazes me that these insecurities are already built into a 3 year old.
