Woodland Gang

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 7:18 am

Saturday night, I got a night out! Hung out with the “Woodland Gang” sans Jon A. But did get to see Bobby, Cory & Rachel, Mark & Andrea and of course Heidi. Started out at the Stag and headed over to the bowling alley where I bowled a 185! I can’t believe it either! After bowling, headed back to the stag for a few more drinks and said our goodbyes to Mark and Andrea who are going back to Spain. At some point I said to Heidi “dude, we gotta do this once a month” and she said “yeah, how about the third Saturday of every month.” Rachel and Heidi were taking pictures like crazy, so hope to have some pics posted soon. I learned that I can’t dance, so will be looking into dance lessons with Heidi. The sicicilian who danced with us, said to me “you have to f@$*in’ loosen up” and Heidi got the best compliment “you were f@$*in’ great.”

A little puffy

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 7:07 am

The fair is over and I am a little extra puffy. As I got dressed to head to the fair for the last time, everything I put on was a little bit tighter. I am hoping it was just from the night of drinking with the “Woodland gang” and all the salty, fried and fatty food and cheap beers I have consumed in the last 5 days. This week I am detoxing. I am eating my steel cut oats for breakfast all week, trying to have no beer, sugar, ect….I will try to walk all week. I hope I do not go into any withdrawls.

Woodland Fair on a stick

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 7:37 am

The Woodland fair has started and for once we have not been everynight, well just Thursday, Friday is still up for grabs. We kicked off Wednesday with a eggroll on a stick, then smoke on a stick. What is smoke on a stick, well it is a hunky piece of kielbasa in a corndog batter with B list gourmet mustards to smother on them. Then we shoved some greasy cheese pizza down our kids throats so I could justify the chocolate dipped cheesecake on a stick we all shared. Then we washed it all down with some Bud! But since I am a lady, I got a budlight.

Every year we hope that Sierra Nevada will be on tap, or atleast Sudwerks since it is part of Yolo county but nothing! Just bud and bud light. Why not serve some local brews?!!! Well 3 years ago, the Davis Rotary club came in and to our delight brought in some new beers and a new beer garden area. Now we have the option of Coors light, Corona and usually some “unique” beer. The first year was Alaskan Amber, oh what a surprise and a expensive delight! The next year was Brew it Ups pale ale, and this year is Fat Tire. Not a big fan of the Fat tire but it is better then the usual cheap hang over inducing buds and coors. But I still don’t understand why no Sierra?!!! This is a rant our group always repeats every year. We should just realize it is not going to happen. I for one have given in to the buds during fair time, my husband on the other hand still snobs out about it.

So as I lay in bed Wednesday night anticipating the start of Lost, I was thinking about my yummy dinner. And I turned to Mark and asked what he was going to eat the next time we go to the fair. The greasy fair food has always been our thing. Eating just about everything and looking forward to our next on a stick flavor. But he turned to me and said, it was just okay. He said he thinks he is getting to old for this food, that his tastes are changing and does not really like to eat this way anymore. That it made him feel not so good. I was stunned, I was hurt. I panicked and started to scan all my friends in my head and looked for a new fair food junky partner. I flashed back to all our past fairs and how we plotted to eat just about everything as long as we split it, that way we had more room for more greasy goodness and cheap beers, or if at the State Fair expensive $6 Sierra Nevada beers.

Hopefully my love will change his mind and take a extra Prilosec, but I might need to start finding a new fair food junky. See you at the fair, I will be at the taco stand solo.

Bodega, Colfax, Humboldt & more Humboldt

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 7:05 am

We have been a busy little family this month. All summer we have done nothing, but as soon as August 1 hit, we were a go! Mark took his annual camping trip with the boys in Humboldt to Ivans hillbilly cabin. Then the next weekend we were off camping with the Gasts in Colfax. A good first time camping trip for people who are just starting to camp again with kids. I am sure we will get more adventuras as we continue our camping quests. This last weekend we were off to Bodega Bay for 4 days of boozing, eating and watching my 2 year old disrespect me. It was a fabulous time as my brother and wife and 2 kids met us there as well as my sis and her husband and kids AND my mom and dad came. What a full house. It was not a weekend with out its drama but you stick 4 families in the same house, something is bound to happen. As soon as I figure out my flickr account, I will post tons of pics for you all to see. Just thinking of the bbq oyster pics, is making me drool, you on the other hand might see the pics and go ick, gross, spit. And to add to the busy month, my husband and his band the Bottom Dwellers are going on a mini tour in Humbold county at the end of the month. Check it out if you are in the area.
