boo boo

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 7:34 am

Yesterday was vaccine day for Ella. She is so used to Ollie getting them that she was actually excited about getting one.

Ella: No Ollie, its my turn to get a boo boo.

So both kids buckled in we head to the doctors. On the way, my sister is in the car next to us. I roll down the window…

Ella: Hi Bean, Im going to get a boo boo.

We get to the nurse and put Ella on my lap, lock her legs in mine, and then she starts to realize what is going to happen. Now she is starting to tighten up and starting to cry. One good jab, one hefty cry and its all over. She is soothed by the free box of stickers; she picks out Clifford.

Ollie goes in on Friday, one more in May and he is all caught up until he hits age 2!

Still here!

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 7:12 am

Just so tired. Struggling with bed times, nap times and Ollie has once again been waking a few times in the middle of the night. Ollie is teething, and he has been throwing tantrums all of a sudden.

I tried to get a little peace by actually closing the bathroom door and locking it. I just wanted to scrub my face and brush my teeth, but the kids found out I was in there and banged on that door so hard as if someone was chasing them and they needed to get in fast. Ollie was crying, Ella was crying and saying “Mommy, Mommy! I need you!” UGH!!!
Current Mood: sleepy but have coffee!

Feverish

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 7:17 am

My kids have colds. They are both in good spirits with lots of snot running everywhere and probably keeping them sicker longer than usual because they keep wiping their snotty noses and rubbing their eyes with their goopy snot. But yesterday, Ella broke out in a fever. Around 5 she was about 102.8, ouch! But still she was in a very good mood. When we put her to bed, her fever was 101.2. We put her down at 9 last night and she is still totally out, it is 8:04am right now. Lots of sleep=good health! While she was in her fever induced sleep last night I heard her talking in her sleep. Her first comment was

“I need a towel, I need a towel, I need a towel”

Huh? Then I remembered that when I put her down for her nap with her bottle yesterday she was having a little coughing attack which I have noticed makes her kind of gag, and I think during one of her coughing/gagging fits, she threw up some curdled milk. So I go in there with a towel and clean it up, hence the talking in her sleep and ranting about how she needs a towel. I hope she wasn’t having puke dreams, that would just be awful. Then her second comment in her sleep was

“That way, that way, that way”

I don’t know where that came from???

Just checked on her temperature and she is a cool 97.2.

Ella Ella Ella

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 2:23 pm

For about the last 2 weeks or so, Ella has been a very stereo typical 2 year old, terrible twos, well now that I think of it, it seems she has been that way since my first minute of labor with her. I thought maybe we have been to house bound lately and she was going a little crazy, but I took her to the park last Thursday, we had a packed weekend with kids her age and we went to the park again today and played and had a picnic. Lets not forget her weekly Tuesday school class also. So this girl can’t be that bored. We get home today after the park and she is screaming her head off because this time I would not let her bring her scraggly flowers into the house. Luckily it was nap time, so I just plopped her on my bed with a bottle and now she is out. I guess I am starting to come to peace with myself that it is okay that I don’t have to entertain her 24/7. And if I need to pop in a movie so that I can do a project of my own then I am gonna! Thanks to my sister for noticing that Ella is always this way. It makes me feel not so insane.

Best husband ever!

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 3:40 pm

Last night my husband stayed home with Ella and Ollie AND Olallie. He had two 2 year old girls and a happy go lucky 1 year old boy to take care of. Not only did he skip pint night at Morrisons, he entertained 3 kids, fixed them dinner, washed all the dishes and put them all in their pajamas! Whew! Me and Molly had a fabulous time at our book club. Thanks sweets! xxoo

The perfect weekend

Filed under: Another day, another way... — Administrator @ 7:47 am

I overheard my friend Shannon asking her husband Adam if this was the perfect weekend, and he said something like “just about.” Walking home from their house, I asked Mark if it was the perfect weekend, and we both agreed that yes, it was.

The weather was great and it all started with Friday. While Ollie napped, Mark and I enjoyed are usual 4:00 beer and talk, catching up on our week and connecting again after a long week of routine, tears, yells, dirty diapers, ect…For the last 5 weeks we have had pizza and a big hearty ranchy salad for dinner on Fridays and that is something that just adds to the greatness of my fridays lately.

Saturday we met up with a bunch of our friends at the Davis Farmers Market. Everyone peeled off their layers of long sleeved clothes and exposed their pasty skin to the sun. The kids ran around the grass, and Ella ate kettle corn until the very end. That night we headed over to Nigel and Mollys for more fun. We ate fabulous burritos and watched the girls play while Ollie tried to play along with them, but in the end, he was just happy doing circles around their big coffee table. Soon that boy will walk and he will out run them all!

Since the weather was making everyone so giddy, Adam and Shannon decided to have a potluck bar-b-q on Sunday, so we head on over there to bask in the sun, drink beers and eats sausages. The best part was that is was so warm that all the babies got naked and played in the kiddy pool. There was about 6 cute naked babies all over that back yard. It was fabulous. The most comical point of the day for me was watching Ollie crawl around and take a nice little dump as he just crawled on through the yard. It was kind of like a little doggy. I have to say, it was much easier to clean his little butt since the poop didn’t get all smashed around in the diaper! And not 5 minutes later I see Ella taking a little wiz over by the picnic table. No problem, I just got a little bucket of water and splashed it on her legs and cleaned up the stepping stones at the same time. It was nice to get those kids out of the house and playing in the sun and playing with other kids. It was nice to see everyone come out of a long winter hibernation.
